Our Solution: The Weight Plate
Other Solutions
|
Other than The Weight Plate there are still plenty of other methods to control your portion sizes. Using smaller tupperware can help you reduce your portion sizes without you even knowing. A PubMed.gov study shows that people with a large bowl eat 77% more pasta than those using a medium sized bowl. Another method to eat correct portion sizes is to not eat straight from the container of food. This is especially helpful when eating snacks. When eating a packaged food or snack you should put it in a separate smaller container to help you eat a more reasonable amount. Sometimes thirst is mistaken for hunger. Drinking a glass of water before each meal can help you differentiate thirst and hunger. This method will prevent you from overeating and aid portion control.

Our group will use surveys to collect data. We will send out two surveys to collect data. One will be sent out before our group distributes The Weight Plate and one will be sent out after. Our group has one community partner named Mona Solasi, who is a dietitian. Our group budget is $30 because we will be using plastic plates, little bits and 3D printing that are already at school. We will build The Weight Plate inside the Windward Create Studio and the Science Room.
